The Parish of Oughterard is fully committed to working with the Galway Diocesan Child Protection Office in implementing the codes of best practice governing Church sponsored activities with children and vulnerable adults as outlined in the Diocesan Policy Safeguarding Children and Young Adults.

Our Parish has a number of volunteer safeguarding representatives who have completed the Diocesan training course for representatives and are familiar with the policies and procedures outlined in the Diocesan Policy. In union with the parish priest they seek to promote the safeguarding of children and young adults participating in Parish sponsored activities and to ensure the implementation of the Diocesan Policy at every level in our Parish.

The Diocesan Policy Safeguarding Children and Young Adults is available on line at www.galwaydiocese.ie/childprotection

or from the Child Protection Office, Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Árus de Brún, Newtownsmith, Galway.

Concerns in relation to safeguarding of children should be made known to one of the Diocesan Designated Persons, An Garda Síochána or the HSE.
